Indian Army Dental Corps Recruitment 2012 Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for grant of Short Service Commission in Army Dental Corps (AD Corps).
Total No. of vacancies – 36
Eligibility:
(a) Candidates must be BDS (with minimum 55% marks in final year)/MDS from a College/University recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI). (b) Should have completed one year rotatory Internship recognized by DCI by 31 Oct 2012.
(c) Should be in possession of Permanent Dental Registration Certificate valid at least upto 31 Dec 2012.
(d) Should be less than 45 years of age as on 31 Dec 2012.
(e) Should be medically fit in all respects for service in the Armed Forces.
Selection Procedure:
(a) Short-listing for interview: BDS candidates found eligible will be short-listed based on their Final BDS marks and attempts taken in Final BDS. Short-listed candidates will be called for interview. All MDS candidates found eligible & in possession of MDS degree will be called for interview. There will be no short-listing in their case.
(b) Medical Examination: Candidates provisionally placed on merit list after interview by Selection Board will be brought before a Medical Board for ascertaining their Medical Fitness.
Pay Scale:
The candidates on commissioning in AD Corps will be granted rank of Capt in the pay scale PB-3 (15600-39100). They will be granted Grade Pay of Rs 6100/- & Military Service Pay of Rs 6000/-. Non-practicing allowance (NPA) at the rate of 25% of the Basic pay, Grade Pay & MSP and DA as admissible (total emoluments will be appx Rs 60,000/-p.m.). In addition, entitled free ration, subsidized accommodation and allied facilities shall be provided. MDS degree holder will be eligible for PG allowance of Rs.1250/- p.m. or specialist pay after undergoing the laid down procedure. In addition, officers are entitled to 60 days annual leave & 20 days casual leave, LTC, free Medical facilities for self and family including dependent parents, Group Insurance of Rs. 40 lakhs & unit CSD facility etc as per the existing rules.

ECHS: Veterans continuing battle for health care

ECHS: BATTLE OF THE VETERANS A CASE STUDY Dental related treatment
1. I really wonder after the Battle has been lost and won was it worth going through the ECHS for fixed dentures? At the end of the day I have ended up paying Rs 16000/- for the fixed dentures to cover the gap of 4 teeth on top (now 6 teeth denture) and one bottom gum (now 3 teeth fixed denture).
2. It took over a dozen visits to ECHS BH, Tilak Nagar star imaging and path lab, R&R and of course finally Rampal Dental Clinic in GKII.
3. I am presently reasonably satisfied with the job which had my approval while on the Dental Chair. Initial cost was quoted as Rs 1 Lac for Top Quality fixed Dentures. I said spending a lac at this age for elephant’s teeth is not worth. In one of the sittings I settled for flexible dentures for Rs 10000/- and in the final sitting the doctor while on the dental chair recommended that I should go for the fixed denture of a reasonable quality which would cost Rs 30000/- as the health of the teeth on both sides is bad and would have to be treated in 6-8 months. When I said the cost appears to be still beyond my budget. Negotiation landed up to Rs 18000/-.
4. Now I have sets of partial two fixed dentures of hopingly reasonable quality. I was told ECHS pays only Rs 500/- per month tooth denture. Rs 2000/- was finally reduced and I ended up finally paying Rs 16000/-.
5. There may be many similar cases which go unreported. As a post treatment ECHS may be able to comment that did I receive the correct treatment or I paid excessive through decision was ultimately mine for which I do not blame anyone from the ECHS. I wonder did I gain anything going through the ECHS for my dental treatment keeping in mind the time spent in waiting and trips made that is for the ECHS to decide.
6. I really wonder if I got true value for my money. Did I benefit from the noble idea of ECHS’s envisaged aim of extended health arm to reach near the veterans door step?

ECHS Secunderabad Gearing up for Veteran Care

Dear Veterans
I am sending pictures of recent events at ECHS Secunderabad to update you all. As has been in the recent past the Army Commander, Sub Area Commander Maj Gen KD Singh has made it possible for the veterans to have these improvements and additions at the ECHS. I am honoured to be a volunteer in this enabling environment. The Sub Area Commander has taken initiative and his drive and enthusiasm is very encouraging (and infectious) to all of us. His staff and those at the ECHS are also very helpful. The Sub Area Commander is always willing to examine suggestions for improvement of ECHS.

1. The dental wing building in the ECHS compound has been completed and now in addition to the Dentist at ECHS, 3 more dental chairs from the Army Dental College centre (Extn) which was functioning from the Bison Canteen Compound have been shifted into this building. We now have four dental chairs, a qualified dentist (ECHS), 3 dental interns from the Army Dental College, hygienist and other staff. A specialist from the Army Dental College will make a visit once a week.

2. The building that is going to house the Cafeteria and CSD outlet. This was an existing building and lot of renovation and repair has been done and a building with an area of appx 2500 plus sq ft is now getting ready. The false roofing is nearing completion and the flooring, painting and other refinements/ additions will take another fortnight or so for completion. The roofing for this building costing about Rs 1.8 Lakhs has been donated by a private listed company, MS Pennar Industries subsidiary Pre Engineered Building Systems (Pebs Pennar). I have been associated with Pennar Group in various capacities for the past 20 years.

3. Donation of Ambulance by family of late Lt Col Gev Eduljee
The most notable and very noble and heart moving gesture was made by the family of Late Lt Col Gev Edulji (his son Viraf is a serving Capt in the Indian Navy). The ambulance was donated yesterday 2 Jul 10 at a simple function. The Sub Area Commander Maj Gen KD Singh and other retired senior officers -Air Marshal Nair, AVM PK Mani, Admiral Pestonji and others were present. Capt Viraf and Mrs Edulji handed over the keys of the ambulance to Maj Gen KD Singh who handed it over to Col Basha the OIC ECHS Secunderabad.

The current parking area is not sufficient and hence a new parking area just outside the compound is being got ready. The ECHS at Secunderabad currently attends to about 500 patients daily. Plans are afoot to make further improvements/ additions.
