A Job Fair for the Armed Forces Veterans will be held on 11.12.2010 Saturday at 08.00 AM at Island Grounds, Chennai (Behind Kendriya Vidyalaya).
This fair is being arranged by the HQ, ATK&K Area, Fort St George, Chennai 600009 for the benefit of veterans.
All the Armed Forces Veterans desirous of attending the fair are to contact and register their names by 10.12.2010 with the Officer-in-Charge, Ex-servicemen Helpline Centre, ATK&K Area, Fort St George, Chennai. They have to obtain token for having registered their names. (This is very important)
Note: Plenty of vacancies are available for different types of job. There is ample opportunity for technical personnel belonging to Signals, EME, MEG & NSG.
Out station candidates will be provided accommodation at the ESM Helpline Centre. They are to report one day in advance i.e. on 10.12.2010.

ONGOLE: Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju has promised to sanction a canteen and hospital for the benefit of ex-servicemen at Giddalur where there is large number of them are living. About 4,000 people attended the rally organised by the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) department for ex-servicemen of Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala at Giddalur on Sunday. Steps are being taken to strengthen sainik welfare boards.

Jobs for ex-servicemen of Assam Regiment
COIMBATORE: Vacancies are available for ex-servicemen who had served in the C and D Groups of the Assam Regiment. According to a press release from the Assistant Director (in-charge), Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Coimbatore, there are seven vacancies allotted to Tamil Nadu, out of the total 187. The positions of plumber, electrician and driver are available for the C Group men, while that of carpenter and tailor are available for the D Group men. Those who are eligible and are interested can contact the Assistant Director of the Coimbatore Welfare office, the release added.

Of the 450 applications received on the first day of the job fair, 250 ex-servicemen have been selected for various positions offering decent salary. “Since Saturday being a holiday, we expect good number of applications also on day two of the job fair,” said chairman of CAPSI, Capt Shibu Isaac. Assistant Director of Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association Jayakumar addressed in the job fair in which 15 agencies participated.

A website has been launched in Hindi to cater to the needs of those seeking jobs, the website www.rojgarsamachar.gov.in has been launched by Employment News weekly newspaper, which is a unit of the Directorate of Publications Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Dedicating the website to the nation, Smt Veena Jain, Additional Director General, said it is a matter of pride for Employment News to manage two websites, one in English and now in Hindi. Smt Jain said, the website exclusively in Hindi will cater to the needs of job seekers from Hindi speaking areas of the country.

Comment: An excellent website for ESM especially for Jawans (PBOR). This website needs to be popularised by Zilla Sainik Boards and ESM Organisations like IESL and others who are in touch with Jawans. Our organisations and Retired Officers need to educate the Jawans who are exploited for employment as Security Personnel. This is one of the most demeaning and exploited jobs assigned to a retired soldier with a measly pay of Rs 3000/ at the most and made to wear a degrading dress which looks ridiculous at times. AHQ and other welfare organisations must dissuade others from exploiting Jawans for recruiting as Security Personnel. Many Retired Officers in this Security Business are also at fault for demeaning the status of a retired soldier/ Jawan.
