Raj floats ex-servicemen Corporation; expands state planning body

The Rajasthan Government will soon float State Ex-Servicemen Corporation (REXCO) Limited for the welfare and help of retired servicemen. The proposal for formation of the corporation was approved by the state cabinet at its meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The proposed corporation would be a Public Enterprise with the absolute ownership of the state government and it would work to help more than two lakh ex-servicemen of the state in providing employment on contract basis to them and/or their dependents and in their other post retirement life related matters. The cabinet also gave its nod to the proposal of expanding the eight-member state planning board for accommodating two more members. Now the board would have 10 members, an official spokesman said. Retired police personnels, ex servicemen to be recruited as SPO's in Hyderabad City Police

The Hyderabad city police will recruit ex-servicemen, retired police personnel and ex-central para military force personnel as special police officers (SPO's) on temporary basis. The SPOs will be deployed till reqular recruitment of police personnel takes place.
Ex-servicemen upto (50) years of age with a pass in 7th class or any army equivalent qualification and physically fit can apply. Retired police personnel and CPMF personnel who have not retired earlier that 31-03-2010 and below 60 years of age and physically fit can apply. Applicant can attend the selections at the CAR. Headquarters, Petla Burj Hyderabad on 10-01-2012 by 10.00 hrs. Ex-servicemen who are interested to apply are requested to bring their original discharge book, Ex-servicemen Identity card, Education certificate and three passport size colour photographs. Retired police personnel and Ex-CPMF personnel are requested to bring their retired DO copy, service certificate and pension papers alongwith three passport size colour photographs. ESM Rally at Jhunjhunu
Dear Colleagues,An ESM rally was held at Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan) on 23 April 2011. An excellent gathering of over 1500 Veterans, 96 Service families including many officers attended. Brig Kartar Singh, President IESL Rajasthan, Brigadier Bhagwan Singh, Ex Secy ZSB Rajasthan, Col Raghunath, President IESL Jhunjhunu and many others addressed the gathering. Rally was well covered by the print as well as visual media. Hony Capt Mohan Lal anchored the meet. Aditya Jaini, Kameshwar Pande and self represented the IESM Governing Body. Veteran Sub Ridh Karan, RAJ RIF (my Battalion) who is running a tent house business, provided excellent logistic arrangements and underwrote the entire expenses amounting to Rs 26,000/-.
After the formal function was over, there was a throng of ESM and families wanting to convey their varied problems for resolution. Jhunjhunu area seems neglected in many respects of ESM welfare.

Supreme Court pulls up Defence Ministry

New Delhi: The government was once again criticised by the Supreme Court, this time the court pulled up the Defence Ministry for not filing a status report on the sale of illegal weapons by the Army.
The court said," It seems that we are heading for another racket."
The Ministry told court that there are aberrations and a status report on how to deal with the issue will be submitted to court within six weeks. The court was hearing a plea seeking CBI probe in the issue.

RAJPOOTANA AND SOME GREAT NAMES IN MILITARY LEADERSHIP
Thanks very much for this informative mail. I really enjoyed it. Time to my mind, has arrived for us to start researching such legends, and possibly have their life and times included in the DSSC entrance exams, one, and second, into school syllabus, to build a depleting element 'character'.
This recent interest in some personalities so far in the 'shadow zone' is good and in line with the revivalist objectives of IESM. Am sure the days of glory shall return. As in inventions, so in national transition of thought (character ??) I am sure the Defence services will (have to) take the lead.

Dear Brigadier Kamboj,
I was pleasantly surprised to see the interest generated in the uniformed community about General Nathu Singh. He was the first 'freedom fighter' in uniform, who dared take on the British. Sadly, he remains almost unknown, in spite of his sterling qualities.
I agree with Yati Panwar. His ACRs (I have copies of some of them, from which extracts have been published in my book) are eye openers. Those days, it was the custom to give a copy of the ACR to the officer. I also have those of Gen RN Batra. Gen Nathu Singh's papers also have a copy of the 'Displeasure' of the Government conveyed to him by the C-in-C, Gen Cariappa. Nathu Singh was then an Army Commander. Kipper and Nathu were both from the Rajput Regiment.
I think MG Kapoor has made a good suggestion. We should make the present generation aware of our leaders about whom almost nothing is known. If you wish, I can circulate what I have written about Prem Bhagat, Gen Sagat Singh, Zoru Bakshi etc. They are all part of my book on leadership.

We have just returned from a short holiday at Jaipur. We stayed at Devi Niketan B&B run by Admiral Madhvendra Singh. The arrangements were superb. The Admiral personally interacts with each guest and attends to each detail. What you get is a 5 star comfort at affordable price. True value for money and a great experience. Devi Niketan is a family owned and operated Heritage Hotel which was inaugurated on 22 Feb 08. It stands on a big plot with large, lush green lawns in front and rear of the building. A double storied heritage house, it is part of the 140 acre estate of the former ruling family of Chomu. It was built in the 1930s by Thakur Devi Singhji, the ruler of Chomu, for his sixth son, Lieutenant K Bhagwati Singh. A grateful son named the building after his father. Thus was born “Devi Niketan” which continues to be a prominent landmark in Jaipur.
Adjacent to Devi Niketan is “Govind Niwas”, the residence of Admiral Madhvendra Singh and his wife Kumu, who own and run “Devi Niketan”. Govind Niwas too stands on a big plot with plenty of greenery. Taken together the two properties stand on a two acre estate which gives a feeling of space and tranquility - even though it is surrounded by a bustling city. With twenty five varieties of indigenous trees on campus, it is no wonder that you can still hear the calls of Peacocks, Partridges and Lapwings, as also the cooing of doves on most days – something rare for most Indian cities. In addition you may see or hear many other bird species that frequent the garden.
