God and the soldier all men adore
In times of danger and not before,
When the danger is passed and all things righted,
God is forgotten, and the soldier slighted.
Unsigned, an unknown soldier.
They protect the country when they are handed a rifle and told "Go
fight the enemy"
The country betrays them when it hands them a pencil and says "Now go and fight the bureaucracy"
