Dear Friend,
With profound sorrow and a heavy heart, I am forwarding this mail which has come from our esteemed veteran, Brig Thyagarajan. For those who may not readily remember Col Vinod Bahl, he was from the 16th NDA Course (Fox Sqn). He was commissioned in the Corps of EME and stood first in every course which he attended. He was sent to the UK for his Post Graduation which he did at the Cranfield. He proceeded on pre-mature retirement in 1982, and later migrated to the USA.
Rama ji (whom Vinod called Nupur) was an extremely warm hearted person, forever willing to help any one in need of her assistance. I say this with complete conviction because she was our neighbor in Agra during 1978-80. My wife fell ill and I took her to the Hospital, where she was admitted. By the time I returned, I found that upon learning about Surinder's illness, she had crossed over to our house, and taken our children aged seven and four under her wings and cared for them until my mother arrived a few days later. The important thing is that she did all this without any one approaching her for help. And she never permitted us to say a word of thanks!
May her soul rest in peace. And may the Lord grant courage and equanimity to Col Bahl and their boys, Twinkle and Shaund to bear this loss with fortitude.

God has been rather cruel with our very dear friend Lt col VK Bahl in snatching away Mrs Rama/Nupur Bahl from this mother earth. Those whom God loves die young.
I announce this with a deep sense of regret. Col Bahl and his sons along with their families are settled in USA.
