In rememberance of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw on his 96th Birthday on 3 April, I would like to recount a heart throbbing incident, along with late Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw,more than four decades back but it is as fresh in my memory as it happened very recently. I was a very young officer and met (then) Gen Manekshaw for the first and the only time, not at any Air Force function nor on any occasion in the Air Force Mess, as a honoured guest or invitee, but altogether in a very different situation on an operational commitment.
