NEW DELHI: CBI on Thursday arrested two government officials for allegedly demanding bribe from a junior officer for upgrading his Annual Confidential Report. The agency registered a case against Jati Ram Meena, joint director at Directorate General of Resettlement in defence ministry, and S K Gupta, deputy director general, ministry of tribal affairs, under Prevention of Corruption Act, sources said.
"It was alleged in the complaint that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 60,000 from the complainant for getting his Annual Confidential Report upgraded," CBI said in a statement. Based on the complaint, CBI laid a trap and arrested Meena while accepting the bribe. "Searches are being conducted at the official and residential premises of both the arrested persons," CBI said.
